Pruning roses,  watering roses, feeding roses, winterizing roses All America Rose Selections Winners For 2003


These All America Rose Selections winners were selected in 1003. Every year the All-America Rose Selections (AARS) evaluate a number of roses in 27 official AARS trial gardens across the U.S. Their gardens represent a wide range of climates throughout the United States, so the roses selected must do well in all of the climates. They closely examine the hardiness, disease-resistance, novelty, and color of its blossoms during a two-year period. Only two or three roses each year win the coveted distinction of receiving an AARS award. For 2003:

All America Rose Selection Winners For 2003 AARS Gold Medal winner rose
Cherry ParfaitGrandiflora. Grows to about 5'H x 4'W. Mild fragrance. If temperature drops below freezing, requires winter protection. Disease resistant. Introduced in the United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses). Order while supplies last. Eureka Floribunda. Eureka grows into a 3 1/2' x 3' bush. It has a light fragrance and is very disease resistant. Bred in Germany by KORDES. Order while supplies last.
Hot Cocoa -- AARS Gold Medal rose for 2003 Whisper -- All America Rose Selection for 2003

Hot Cocoa — Floribunda. Grows to 3 1/2'H x 4 1/2'W. Russet blooms. Fruity, Mild fragrance. Bred in United States by Tom Carruth and introduced by Weeks. Order while supplies last.

WhisperHybrid Tea. Blossoms are long greenish ivory buds with slight to no fragrance on cutting-length stems. A Solitare/Elina cross from Dickson of Ireland, distributed in the U.S. by Jackson & Perkins. Order while supplies last.

The All America Rose Selections committee has been awarding winners since 1938. The roses above were selected for 2003 as AARS gold medal winners
