So it's raining today! We can't let that stop us from getting ready for an awesome Spring season, so we have a whole list of great free classes on tap for our customers...We continue to offer free classes to our customers, virtually every weekend here at Regan Nursery. Below, is a partial list of the upcoming classes you might want to put on your garden calendar!

Bay Friendly Walking Tour of Regan Nursery
Please join us for a wonderful walking tour of Regan Nursery's Bay Friendly plants, as we discuss the Bay Friendly concept, and some of the beautiful and hardy plants available for use in this important effort. We will meet for the tour at Regan Nursery from 10:00 am-11:00 am on February 27th.
Join Landscapers Bill Merrill and Ann Morrison on a guided tour of Regan Nursery. Get the skinny on plants and edibles best suited for the soil and climate of the Fremont area. Bay Friendly advisors will also be tabling at Regan that day, and can answer questions about plants and the program for you

Plant Propagation I
Please join us for our first class on Plant Propagation. If you are interested in how plants are propagated at this time of year, our instructor Kathleen Elliot will be discussing the techniques used in making hardwood cuttings from dormant stems like Forsythia, Fig, Grape, Spirea and broadleaf evergreens like Thuja and Euonymus. She will demonstrate this on live cuttings, and at the end of the class, you will be able to replicate these practices on your own.
Later this season, we will have further classes on this subject, with plants typically propagated at different times of the year. Please join us for this fun, informative, and new class at Regan Nursery. We look forward to seeing you here!

Setting the Table For Beneficial Insects
Tired of having the "Good Bugs" leave your garden party early? Join us at Regan Nursery, Sunday, March 7th, from 1:00PM-2:30PM for a closer look at what's going on in your own back yard!
Don't miss this opportunity to find out how to set up a garden party for Mother Nature's Little Helpers. Learn how to make a permanent residence for desirable bugs, including plants that will atrract them, structures for shelter and how to identify who is who in your yard.
International speaker Annie Joseph will illuminate the world of beneficial insects, how they fit into your yard and how they can help you to maintain a more beautiful, and less toxic environment. This talk will open your eyes to the world right in your own back yard!
There will be free samples of 'eco-friendly' products, and raffle prizes too.

Vegetable Gardening Workshop
This class will cover the basics of starting your Spring/Summer Vegetable Garden.
In this class, we will discuss the various vegetables to plant from starts, and those that do well from seed. Most people are most interested in Tomatoes, so that will be our primary focus, but we will have time to discuss Peppers, Squash, Melons, Herbs, Beans and other wonders of the Spring/Summer garden. We will talk about soil fertility, composting and amending your soil, dealing with bugs organically, and using beneficial insects in your garden.
This class has filled up in the past, so come early, and bring your questions. The class will start at 1:00 pm promptly.

Attracting Hummingbirds to the Garden
Learn proven methods for bedecking your garden with a kaleidoscope of gems. Among our smallest bird species, hummingbirds are feisty powerhouses of motion and energy and they bring a garden to life like nothing else.
This program will highlight the best plants and feeders for attracting the Anna's Hummer all year and the Allen's Hummer throughout spring and summer.
You will learn which plant species are drought tolerant and deer resistant as well as magnets for hoards of hungry hummers. A photo montage will provide up close looks at the splendidly iridescent feathers of male hummers and the delicately colored females as they brood their eggs on tiny nests carefully stitched of moss, lichens and spider silk.
Join expert naturalist Jan Southworth for this outstanding presentation on Sunday, March 21st from 1pm-2:30 pm in our garden center.
